First Time Winner Guaranteed at Wimbledon
Only two of the four women to each the Wimbledon semi-finals have been in a Grand Slam final before, Marion Bartoli and Agnieszka Radwanska.
Neither of them have ever won a title, however, they are more experienced that their rivals Savine Lisicki (who knocked out defending champion Serena Williams) and Kirsten Fliplens (who beat former champion Petra Kvitova).
However, Lisicki is the bookies’ favourite with odds of 13/10, behind her is Radwanska at 11/4 then Bartoli at 9/2 and Fliplens at 7/1.
Lisicki is known for her massive serve and she’ll be hoping to emulate fellow German Steffi Graf and win the Venus Rosewater Dish. However, first she will have to defeat Radwanska in their semi-final match later this week.
If Bartoli makes it to the final it will be her second appearance there, she was defeated six years by Venus Williams and she’ll be desperate to put in a better performance. Flipkens will be hoping to follow the footsteps of Justine Henin and Kim Clijsters, Belgium’s famous Grand Slam champions. Neither of them won Wimbledon and Flipkens is sure to want to be the Belgium woman to do so.
