Sir Alex Ferguson has announced that he will be retiring from his position of manager of Manchester United FC after 26 years in the job. Ferguson is widely considered to be the best manager in UK football and possibly globally.

The announcement of his resignation has already provoked much speculation over who his successor will be and there are multiple betting markets open on the question.
The favourite at the moment is Real Madrid Coach, Jose Mourinho with odds of 6/5 he is followed by Scottish coach David Moyes at 6/4. Also in contention are J Klopp (10/1), R Giggs (25/1) and OG Solskjaer (25/1).
In a statement Ferguson said, “The decision to retire is one that I have thought a great deal about and one that I have not taken lightly. It is the right time. It was important to me to leave an organisation in the strongest possible shape and I believe I have done so. The quality of this league winning squad, and the balance of ages within it, bodes well for continued success at the highest level whilst the structure of the youth set-up will ensure that the long-term future of the club remains a bright one.”
