There is one week left in the NFL season and the Texans, Broncos and Patriots are all possibilities for the two first-round byes, however, the top three seeds are yet to be determined.

On the 30th December the New England Patriots face the Miami Dolphins and a win would enable the Patriots to get the bye.

Luckily for the Patriots the odds are in their favour, they have odds of 2/17 on a win while the best on the Dolphins are 11/2.

Because of the proximity of the Texans, Broncos and Patriots the schedule has been changed so that they all play at the same time. This will ensure that each team must perform its best and won’t be able to rest their starters.

If the Patriots game took place before the Broncos as planned, and the Patriots lost it would mean that the Broncos were guaranteed of a bye and turn their game into a non-event.

As for the Dolphins, this game will determine their final two opponents next year. The team is second place in the AFC East but will drop to third if they lose next week against the Jets.

Their final opponents next year will be depend on where they finish in the rankings.
