Alabama vs Notre Dame Game Preview
Alabama is trying to achieve what no program has yet managed in the BCS era, win a third national championship and become a dynasty.
The last time a program managed this was 15 years ago when Nebraska under Coach Tom Osborne won three championships in four seasons.
If Alabama can beat Notre Dame on January 7th then they will become the first team to win a third national title since the BCS began in 1999.
History shows that winning three championships in such a short space of time is incredibly difficult and if they pull it off it will be a remarkable achievement.
Luckily for Alabama, the bookies have put the odds very much in their favour. Fans will find odds of 3/10 on an Alabama victory while the best available on Notre Dame is 29/10. If all goes to plan then Alabama should go down in BCS history.
The odds of it happening have got considerably smaller as the team has narrowed the task down to one game.
However, if Notre Dame does beat Alabama then they still have the chance to create a dynasty but it becomes a much harder task, instead of winning one game now, they must win 14 next year.
