Sunderland Look Forward to January Transfer Market

This Saturday Sunderland host Chelsea in the Premier League and while Chelsea has been in the news for its bad season, things are going far worse for Sunderland.

Unsurprisingly the visitors are favourites to win this game, with odds of 16/19 Chelsea are expected win this match and end their bad run.

The home team have odds of 50/13 on a win and a Sunderland victory would certainly be the biggest upset so far to Chelsea’s season.

At present Sunderland is only one point and one place outside the relegation zone and are in very real danger of falling into it.

Sunderland boss Martin O’Neill recently said that the team has a “really big month ahead and a lot of games – as has every side in the Premier League – so it is tough.”

However, he said that he is looking forward to the January market and hoping that it will provide an opportunity for him to turn his team’s fortunes around.

As O’Neil says, “All the clubs in the Premier League will be looking at it [the transfer market].”  He won’t on to say that he doesn’t know whether other teams will be “very active or inactive” but Sunderland “will certainly have a look at it.”
