There’s Not Much in the Odds, but Milan Can Relax
For today’s game, AC Milan is just about the bookies favourite to win against Zenit St Petersburg but it doesn’t matter if they don’t.
Milan has odds of 6/4 but Zenit St Petersburg couldn’t be closer with odds of 7/4 to win.
However, after Milan won 3 – 1 at Anderlecht it means that they cannot be caught and will definitely go through to the next stage of the competition.
In the match against Anderlect, Stephan El Shaarawy and Philippe Mexes put the side quickly in control. However, they were reduced to 10 men when Bram Nuytinck was sent off and the Belgian side managed to score with 12 minutes left of play.
Nonetheless, Milan’s victory was secured when substitute Alex Pato scored in added time and guaranteed the teams progression.
Coach Massimiliano Allegri said of their last match that “we did well even if at the end we suffered a bit, something that shouldn’t happen. This is a step that the team has to take, improving in possession of the ball.”
As a result, they can relax in the match next week, whatever the result they are safely through to the next round and the players can use the opportunity to rest before the next half of the competition.
