Manchester City Need to Beat Real Madrid
Next Wednesday Manchester City will take on Real Madrid in the Champions League with City desperately trying to avoid elimination in the group stage.
Real Madrid is favourite in every way in this match; it looks as though they will progress to the finals and have odds of 13/10 on a win whereas City are outsiders with odds of 11/5.
Patrick Vieira, the Football Development Executive at City believes that the team is struggling as they are lacking a history of association with the competition, something which all their heavyweight European rivals have. Vieira said that the “Champions League is a different level … it’s not just players – it’s about a football club and how you grow up.”
He said that this is new for City and he believes that as the team learns they will get better but “it will take time.”
In order to progress City need to win against Real Madrid and Dortmund and hope that all the other matches fall in their favour.
Vieira remained cautiously optimistic saying that he believes “that when the door is still open, however small it is, there is always going to be a chance.”
