FIFA Picks 10 Final Candidates for Goal of the Year

In recent years, FIFA began a new tradition of giving an award for the most beautiful goal of the year. We all remember Eliran Atar’s goal was nominated for a number of years, but this year the focus shifts primarily to South America. Among the 10 candidates announced for the title you can find Leo Messi, Radamel Falcao and Neymar.

Here are the candidates:

  1. Leo Messi – Argentina vs Brazil
Barcelona’s star scored no less than 76 official goals this year (and counting), but actually got nominated for the goal he scored in a friendly match between the two rivals. We are talking about the move in which he sped towards the goal and kicked to the crossbars from 25 yards away, to set a dramatic 3:4.

  2.

  3. Radamel Falcao – Atletico Madrid vs America de Cali
Even Flkao, Atletico Madrid’s hot striker’s goal took place in a friendly match. This battle took place in a preseason game against the team from his country of Columbia – America de Cali. “El Tigre” reached a corner ball with a virtuoso scissor kick that went straight to the top corner.

  4.

  5. Hatem Ben Arfa – Newcastle vs Blackburn
No one disputes the technical capabilities of the Frenchman, only about what he has inside the box sometimes. Ben Arfa ran across a half a field in a cup match, passed four defenders and did not stop until he finished coolly in the Rovers goal. A rare goal.

  6.

  7. Neymar – Santos vs Internacional
When will we see him in Europe already? The Brazilian Phenomenon did not stop conquering this year in Brazil, and this goal is probably the highlight of his amazing performance. The 20 year old striker passed the defense of Internacional and finished only inside the net.

  8.

  9. Éric Hassli – Vancouver vs Toronto
The MLS has many stars with internationally known names, but none of them provided a huge missile kick like this guy did. He swung his leg and sent a ball that almost went straight through the holes in the net. And the American broadcaster’s enthusiasm in this video is no less great.

  10.

  11. Emmanuel Agyemang – Ghana vs Guinea
Has he really planned it that way? Not every day you see this done with such coolness. Udinese’s midfielder bounced the ball to himself and then sent it fantastically with a kick to the far corner. The bottom line – you have to see it.

  12.

  13. Moussa Sow – Fenerbahçe vs Galatasaray
It’s not only the acrobatic overhead half scissor kick goal, it’s not only that it happened under the pressure of the defender – it is the fact that it was one of the hottest games on the planet. What a performance.

  17. Olivia Jimenez – Mexico vs Switzerland
The fairer sex is properly represented here. This Mexican player has proven that women have powerful legs with a kick from 40 yards that the goalkeeper had no chance to stop, at the World Championship up to age 20.

Have we saved the best for last? You must admit that a goal like this you have not seen yet, even if it’s an esoteric league in Bolivia. A Scorpion kick from 18 yards that you have to see.
