Close Odds in Lakers vs. Spurs

On Sunday night the Los Angeles Lakers hired a new coach, Mike D’Antoni, surprising many who were expecting Phil Jackson to take the position.

However, D’Antoni will not be joining the Lakers in time for their next game against the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday.

At present the odds are close, the Lakers have odds of 5/6 and the Spurs are just behind at 1/1.

D’Antoni is still recovering from knee surgery and he is expected to debut with the team in the next week or two.

While it may not happen by Tuesday, D’Antoni is sure to make some big changes to the Lakers’ defence over the coming season.

We can expect to see Steve Nash featuring much more as he has thrived under D’Antoni’s system in the past, even winning two MVP awards. Kobe Bryant will also probably be taking a prominent role and over all we can expect to see the team running a lot more pick-and-roll and posting up less.

The Lakers had a poor start to the season losing the majority of their games. However, as soon as they fired their old coach they won their next game and if D’Antoni’s record is anything to go buy, the wins are likely to continue.
