Despite Strong Start, Chicago Bears are not NFC North Favourites

Despite being strong favourites to win their next game against the Detroit Lions (odds of 5/12 versus 40/17), and sitting on top of the NFC North, the Chicago Bears are still not favourites to take the NFC North title.

Despite being strong favourites to win their next game against the Detroit Lions (odds of 5/12 versus 40/17), and sitting on top of the NFC North, the Chicago Bears are still not favourites to take the NFC North title.

The Bears’ biggest threat comes from the Green Bay Packers.

The team is far better than their 3-3 record shows and recently defeated the Houston Texans. This showed the entire league that the Packers are still and elite team and shouldn’t be underestimated.

Furthermore, even though Bears are presenting their most complete team since 2006, they still have a weak offensive line.

This offensive line is likely to be the deciding factor of the team’s success throughout the rest of the season.

If players such as J’Marcus Webb begin to play more consistently and not rely too much on tight ends and running backs to help Jay Cutler on passing downs, then Chicago could easily be one of the best all-around teams in the league.

When Chicago lost to the Green Bay Packers, Cutler was sacked seven times by the Packers’ 3-4 defence which the Bears struggled to defend against.

As long as Chicago is struggling in this way and the Packers have Aaron Rodgers, then the Packers will remain favourite.
