Real Madrid Fight Back to Win Champions League Opener
In a thrilling Champions League match this week Real Madrid managed to come from behind and beat Manchester City 3-2 thanks to a goal from Cristiano Ronaldo.
There were a number of other Champions League matches this week, but Real’s was by far the most exciting.
All five goals in the game were scored in the final 22 minutes after City’s Edin Dzeko opened scoring.
It wasn’t long before Marcelo hit home an equaliser but City soon went back in front thanks to free-kick in the 85th minute. However, the drama continued with Karim Benzema equalising for Real Madrid in the 87th minute and then Ronaldo scored in the final minute to win the match.
Real Madrid is hoping to win their 10th Champions League and this opening match is sure to have boosted their confidence.
After the game Ronaldo said that he celebrates “when I have to celebrate”. He went on to say that the match was very important for the team and they are now “back in the fight.”
Head coach Jose Mourinho said that “Real Madrid can lose matches, Jose Mourinho can lose matches, but my happiness is not just that we got three points, but that my team is back.”
