Mystery Remains Over Ronaldo’s Sadness

Karim Benzema, forward at Real Madrid, says that he has seen no evidence of Cristiano Ronaldo’s supposed sadness.

Karim Benzema, forward at Real Madrid, says that he has seen no evidence of Cristiano Ronaldo’s supposed sadness.

During a press conference Benzema said that he didn’t know why Ronaldo “has been feeling sad … I haven’t seen him unhappy. We have a great relationship and I didn’t see him any different last week than usual.”

Ronaldo didn’t celebrate after scoring two goals in the team’s 3 – 0 win over Granada causing huge media speculation.

After the game he said that he was feeling a “little sad” but didn’t offer any more details.

After this statement there were many speculative media stories over the cause of his sadness.

Many in the Spanish media believe it may be part of a contract ploy, a problem with teammates or bitterness after losing the UEFA Best Player in Europe award.

Others are theorising that Ronaldo may wish to leave the team and join Paris St Germain.

However, earlier this week Ronaldo Tweeted that he is fully committed to his team and also rejected any claims that his statements were motivated by money. He said that he is “accused of wanting more money, but one day it will be shown that this is not the case.”
