Peyton Manning Returns After 1 Year, 8 Months and 2 Days
Get used to reading about “Denver Broncos Quarterback Peyton Manning”. It may take time to sink in, but 2012 is on its way to being a most interesting year for the NFL.
After being out of the game for the entire 2011 season, the star quarterback returns to the field today in what many are touting as this week’s game to watch – Denver Broncos vs the Pittsburgh Steelers. Two weeks after Manning said farewell to the Indianapolis Colts, he stood next to John Elway, promising to bring home yet another Lombardi Trophy.
Coming off of 4 neck surgeries, Manning has his work cut out for him. For sure it will take time for the quarterback and his team to find their stride.
Manning won’t be the only new player on the field – both teams have had a lot of changes occur in the off-season. The Steelers lost WR Hines Ward, DL Aaron Smith, DL Chris Hoke and LB James Farrior.
The Steelers have a QB story of their own with Ben Roethlisberger, who told the media that he doesn’t plan on missing the birth of his child – even if that means missing a game. Roethlisberger’s wife is due to give birth sometime in the mid-season.
Kickoff is at 8:20pm ET at Mile High Stadium in Denver. The point spread goes to Broncos by 2 according to most online sources. The Broncos lead the overall series 13-7-1.
