Breaking News: Final Olympics Medal Count Has Team USA on Top
Team USA won the gold medal and overall medal count. In fact, the Americans also won more silver and bronze medals than any other country. Anyone who thought that the Chinese would beat the Americans every 4 years after Beijing was way off.
The Americans won an astounding 46 gold medals, 29 silver and 29 bronze medals for a total of 104 medals won! Out of 302 total medal events, Team USA won at least bronze in over a third. The Chinese came in a strong 2nd place with 38 gold medals, 27 silver and 22 bronze medals won and a total of 87 medals won.
The amazing hosts, Great Britain, won 29 gold medals, 17 silver and 19 bronze medals. That is nothing short of a top performance by the Brits, who have quite a few new Olympic stars to celebrate. The Russians saved what initially appeared to have been a poor Olympic performance. In the last few days of the games, they hit back hard and won a total of 24 gold medals, 25 silver and 33 bronze medals for a total of 82 medals won.
The South Korean team had a good run with 13 gold medals, 8 silver and 7 bronze medals won for a total of 28 medals. The Americans are still on top with the Chinese owning the rights to deem themselves a “sports superpower”. Great Britain and Russia both earned their place as “sports powers”.
