On the morning of Day 11 of the Olympics, the Chinese team is back on top of the gold medal count

The Chinese have won 31 gold medals, 19 silver and 14 bronze medals. Close behind is Team USA with 29 gold, 15 silver and 19 bronze medals.

The UK is still in a strong third place with 18 gold, 11 silver and 11 bronze medals for a total of 40 medals won by the host country. South Korea is in 4th place with 11 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze medals. Behind them is France with 8 gold, 9 silver and 9 bronze medals.

The Russians are having their worst Summer Olympics ever with only 7 gold, 17 silver and 18 bronze medals won so far. “Sure, we would like to have more gold medals,” Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov told the RIA Novosti news agency. “But this is sports, and in many sport events we just lack a bit of luck and good fortune.”
