Breaking News: Team USA Overtakes China in Gold Medal Count

It was a great weekend for Team USA and host country Great Britain at the Olympics. For the first time since the London Olympics began, Team USA is in the lead with 26 gold medals, 13 silver and 15 bronze medals.

China is close behind with 25 gold medals, 16 silver and 12 bronze medals. The UK is now in third place with a stunning 14 gold medals, 7 silver and 8 bronze medals. The British won 6 gold medals (and one silver) this weekend – their best Olympic day in 104 years.
Mo Farah became the first Brit to win gold in the 10,000 meters while long jumper Greg Rutherford won the gold medal. Britain’s third (and record) athletics gold medal Saturday came thanks to Jessica Ennis (heptathlon).
