Sportsbetting Continues to Thrive in State of Nevada

New statistics have revealed that sports books services in Nevada are continuing to thrive. The arrival of new technology has paved the way for a growing number of gamers to access sports betting services –making the sector one of the most significant forces in the industry at large. The latest figures issued by state gaming regulators have shown that football bets were responsible for contributing some $1.19 billion of the $2.76 billion wagered in the state last year. Nevada gross gaming revenues were also recorded at $151.1 million. Many are hoping that the imminent arrival of the National Football League player’s lockout will inspire a fresh wave of activity to boost the numbers further.

New technology has brought fresh betting opportunities to sports punters in the region, say analysts.

Operators across the internet are doing their bit to arouse the enthusiasm of punters as a series of high profile events draw closers. Bookmakers have now posted odds on the NFL season with figures relating to Week 1, division winners as well the Super Bowl available online. Green Bay is currently 11-2 to win the Super Bowl at the Palms race and sports book with the New England Patriots at 13-2, Pittsburgh Steelers showing 11-1 and the San Diego Chargers at 12-1.

Meanwhile industry experts have been quick to highlight the rapidly changing nature of the sector. Sports book operators are forecasting a growth in sports wagering within the next few years as an increasing number of customers look to take advantage of smartphone applications. David G, Schwartz, director for the Center for Gaming Research at Nevada University, said that the industry was “moving toward using more technology” and greater consumer choice.
