How to Play EuroMillions

The EuroMillions Lotto is perhaps the most popular numbers game in the EU and it provides tens of millions in jackpot prizes every draw, with some reaching into the hundreds of millions. We’ll outline the process of playing from start to finish for you, from picking your numbers, buying your tickets and collecting your prize money.

Step 1: Solo or Multiplayer

The EuroMillions lottery doesn’t have to be a game you play on your own, although you certainly can play it in such a way if you choose.  However, if you want to play with a group of others or an organization the syndicate method of play will allow you to do just that. As a syndicate, in the event of a winning draw, those participating people agree to split the prize in the event of a win. We’ll discuss the syndicate option again in the ticket purchasing section of this guide.

It’s your decision to make, play the EuroMillions lottery on your own terms or join a group of eager players with whom you can combine resources. Once you’ve decided how to proceed, you’re ready to pick your numbers.

Step 2: Picking Your Numbers

The EuroMillions is a 7-ball lottery chosen from a drum of numbers ranging from 1-50. Five regular numbers are chosen by the player with the addition of two Euronumbers, ranging from 1-15.

If you have a set of numbers you’d like to play, you can choose them yourself. Alternately, you can select to use the quick-pick feature, which automatically generates the ticket’s numbers at random. Don’t worry about the order of the numbers, when it comes time to draw all that effects the outcome is whether they match or not.

Once you’ve selected your numbers or the quick-pick method, you’re ready to buy your ticket(s).

Step 3: Purchasing Tickets

EuroMillions players are able to purchase multiple tickets at a time if they choose, right up to the deadline or several months in advance. Each ticket costs about €5.00 when purchased online and slightly cheaper offline.  The EuroMillions Raffle is available in both France and the UK. This feature feature can be added to ticket purchases for an additional fee and offers a £/€1 million tax-free jackpot.

Players may buy tickets by line in several variations, including 3-line, 5-line, systematic, and syndicate tickets. Play as an individual player or as part of a syndicate. Syndicate tickets cover all combination of a certain selection of numbers, usually around 126 to meet the minimum purchase requirement for EuroMillions games.

Tickets may be purchased up until the cut-off deadline prior to the 21:00CET deadline. There may be differing cut-off times for online and retail ticketing providers.

Step 4: The Draw

The EuroMillions Lottery draw takes place twice weekly, with numbers being drawn every Tuesday and Friday evening at 21:00pm CET. The normal five numbers are drawn from a field of 1-50, while the two Euronumbers are chosen from a field of 1-11.

The draw is broadcast live on television sets in the EU and via internet from the official EuroMillions website and YouTube.

Step 5: What to do When You’ve Won

There are thirteen total ways to win a prize when playing the EuroMillions lottery game. Your odds of winning any level of prize begin at 1:23. Win one of the many cash prizes by matching numbers from your ticket with those drawn by the lotto on Tuesdays and Fridays. All prizes’ values are based on a percentage of the prize fund and can change every draw. However, the jackpot is always a minimum of €15m.

If you’ve been lucky enough to claim a prize, you’ll have several ways by which to receive your money. How you receive your winnings will depend largely on how you purchased your tickets. If you bought tickets from a land-based retailer, you’ll need to claim your winnings in person from a licensed retailer. If you purchased tickets via online ticket service, then you’ll receive your winnings instantly via direct deposit after results are published. These two scenarios are acceptable for prizes up to a maximum of €2,500. Larger prizes will need to be claimed at the lottery headquarters.

The grace period for claiming one’s winnings with the EuroMillions lotto is several months. However, if not claimed before the deadline is reached, winnings are then forfeited to the lottery.  Check with the official lottery website or ticketing agent for the EuroMillions prize claim conditions.

If you’re a lucky jackpot winner, you’ll be able to claim your jackpot in a lump sum.

The EuroMillions Lottery

The EuroMillionsLottery is one of the largest numbers games in the world and has a minimum seed of €15 million with the potential to reach into the hundreds of millions.  Ticket sales are pooled from all participating countries and prizes are set as a percentage of the revenue generated. This helps to create some of the largest lottery jackpots in numbers games.

Purchase your EuroMillions ticket before the next draw and for an opportunity to be the next Euro Millionaire.
