$24 Million Jackpot Winner Claims Prize with Two Days to Spare

A very lucky lottery player in New York has come forward to claim his $24.1 million jackpot just two days before the ticket was due to expire.

A press release from the New York Lottery said that they had been looking for the winner from a draw that took place on May 25, 2016. The individual then appeared at the Lottery’s Beaver Street Customer Service Center in Lower Manhattan on May 23 this year and was able to claim the jackpot just in time.

The winner was prompted to look for the ticket after seeing news coverage on the win that hadn’t been claimed and found it amongst other old tickets proving that it is always worth checking your numbers. At present there are a huge number of unclaimed wins from the past year totalling millions of dollars both in the States and abroad.
