All-Time Jackpot Record of $1.3 Billion in the US Powerball

The US Powerball lottery jackpot has grown to a record breaking $1.3 billion due to a rush of ticket sales following Saturday’s draw.
The jackpot was last won on November 7th and it has been growing steadily since then with 19 consecutive drawings failing to produce a winner. Now with such a huge sum up for grabs a rush of ticket sales is pushing the prize fund to record breaking levels and it could still significantly increase before the draw on Wednesday night.
The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million but nonetheless it is unusual for so many draws to fail to produce a winner. With such a huge prize up for grabs people are spending more on tickets than they usually would with most people spending $10 or $20 on tickets. Powerball tickets are sold in 44 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
