Mobile Devices Lead to Record Lottery Ticket Sales
It’s long been known that mobile gambling is hugely popular but new figures show that people also enjoy playing the lottery from mobile devices.
The UK National Lottery operator, Camelot, has said that it has experienced record ticket sales driven by an increase in mobile sales. In the 2014/15 financial year there were £7,277 million of ticket sales, up £546 million from the previous year. The amount of sales which resulted from interactive and subscription sources was at a record £1,340m up £163 million from the previous year.
Overall mobile sales increased by 60% from the previous year and accounted for 36% of all interactive sales. This is all excellent news for lottery players as of course the larger the sales the larger the prizes on offer. Last year Camelot awarded over £4 billion in prizes and gave out over £1.8 billion to charities.
