Ticketing Mistakes Leads to Double Win For Syndicate
A lotto syndicate of 11 friends in West Australia has benefitted from a mistake on their own part after their numbers won an $866,108 division 1 prize last week. The group accidently purchased a second ticket with the same numbers which doubled their windfall to a total of $1.7 million. The mistake was a blessing in disguise earning each participant in the syndicate a total of $157,474.
A normal weekly Saturday purchase for the group, the slip up happened when a previous ticket purchase had the advanced play option selected. This meant the group had doubled up on the previous weekend’s draw, providing a second game winning ticket.
The syndicate had been playing together for more than a decade. Aged 30-60 the members based their numbers on birthdays and lucky numbers. Most confessed the money will go to paying off mortgages, vacations, and toys like automobiles and motorcycles.
The winning tickets were purchased at the purchased at The Lucky Charm News in Willetton and Applecross Village Newsagency in West Australia.
