Powerball Lottery $259 Million Winner Shares His Winnings

We all have dreams yet it is clear that all our dreams are different.
Roy Cockrum recently won $259 million in the Powerball lottery.
This marks the biggest lottery jackpot prize ever in the history of Tennessee.
While anyone in Mr. Cockrum’s shoes would be making plans on how to spend their money, Roy has a different idea.
That’s right, Mr. Cockrum is giving the full $259 million to charity as he has taken a vow of poverty.
Roy has spent his whole life in the theatre world as a stage manager as an actor.
When he recently retired, he became a monk in the Society of Saint John the Evangelist and he took a vow of poverty.
For this reason, Roy is not taking any of his winnings and instead he is planning to start a charitable foundation which will support performing arts programs across the USA.
As Mr. Cockrum says, “I really believe the best way to prepare for this tsunami of cash has been to live under a vow of poverty for a number of years, it gives great perspective. It’s going to be my job to work very hard to make sure that every single penny of this prize is a blessing to whoever it touches.”
