Aston Villa Lottery Syndicate Share £1 Million Jackpot

A group of eleven Aston Villa fans have worn their team’s colors to celebrate a joint £1 million EuroMillions win. The syndicate from Sutton Coldfield met up at the team’s grounds to pose for pictures in replica kit four days after they each won £90,909.09.

The syndicate was started by Engineer Simon Ashcroft last September; he said that they all “just feel ridiculously lucky, especially as we only played our first game in September. I’ve never even won a raffle at the fair.”

Ashcroft learned about the win from a National Lottery alert as he traveled home from work last Friday. He said, “”At first I thought nothing of it as we have often won a couple of pounds but, when I went into the account and realized it was £1 million it was just unbelievable.”
Ashcroft first told his friend Matt Hammonds and then the pair spent Sunday visiting the other friends to tell them the good news.

He went on to say that the rest of the group was in shock at first and as he is “a bit of a joker … no-one really believed me to begin with.”
