Two Winning Tickets of $636 Million Mega Millions Jackpot
According to lottery officials two winning tickets were sold for the $636 million Mega Millions jackpot.California lottery spokesman, Alex Traverso, said that one player bought their winning ticket at Jennifer’s Gift Shop in San Jose. The lucky customer will be sharing the second biggest lottery jackpot of all time with the player who bought a ticket at the Gateway Newstand in Atlanta.
Traverso said, “For us, the main thing we’d like to get across is the level of excitement we saw all across California.
At one point, we were selling about 25,000 tickets per minute. It’s been an amazing experience. It’s unbelievable.”
Lottery officials said that the owner of Jennifer’s Gift Shop, Thuy Nguyen, will receive a prize of about $1 million for selling the winning ticket. After hearing that the ticket had been sold in his store Nguyen said, “I am so happy, I feel good.”
The jackpot was the result of 21 consecutive rollovers since Oct. 4th. If no one had won last night then the jackpot would certainly have set a new world record, it is thought that it would have easily exceeded $825 million.
