Powerball Jackpot Grows to $166 Million
The jackpot for Wednesday’s Powerball draw has grown to a massive $166 million. This comes after no ticket matched the winning numbers on Saturday’s draw when the jackpot was worth $141 million.
One ticket, purchased in Illinois, on which used the Power Play feature matched 5 white numbers and won $2 million. There were four states where ticket holders matched 5 white numbers and won $1 million. The tickets were bought in Arizona, Kansas, Louisiana and Massachusetts.
The Powerball is played across 43 states as well as Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. There are draws held twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays and tickets cost $2 a game.
Whenever the jackpot is won it is reset to $40 million and climbs every time there is no ticket which matches all six numbers.
The largest ever Powerball jackpot was won in May this year and was worth $590 million. The jackpot was won by Gloria MacKenzie. Earlier this week it was reported that she has bought a 6,300 square foot, five bedroom home in a gated gold course community in southeast Jacksonville, Fla.
