The latest from the realm of tricky legality issues concerning online casino gaming is that Mel Molnick, the patent holder for the concept of “live” online casino gambling, intends to litigate against some of the biggest names in the European online casino industry. His European patent was approved in January this year, giving the entrepreneur the green light to seek damages against competing firms that have allegedly stolen his ideas.

According to one online casino publication, Molnick has already filed patent infringement lawsuits against some of the largest players in the industry. Among them are Sporting Bet, Ladbrokes, Bets On, and Swedish online casino firm Cherryforetragen. Molnick’s announcement notes that the European Patent Office has approved his patent for live online casino gaming events, and he is currently registering the patent in all European Union countries for international enforcement.

Molnick’s patent already exists in the U.S. despite the U.S. government’s crackdown on online casino gambling. Molnick has previously exercised his U.S. patent in litigation against online casino firms such as CWC and Dr. Ho. A spokesperson representing the entrepreneur has pointed out that now the patent has been accepted and registered in Europe, there is nothing to stop Molnick from filing numerous patent infringement lawsuits throughout Europe.
