Italian Gambling Blockade to be Challenged

There has been much news about the plans and implementation by Italian authorities to block online casino gambling from remote ISPs in its territory. From the beginning, many online casino gambling sites and online casino gambling organizations have said that they will not sit by and let the Italian authorities bulldozer their decision into the industry. Many have promised legal action and one group of very disgruntled bookies are taking these promises even further.

Some of the most powerful online casino gambling and betting companies in Europe are now planning to take the Italian government to court. The online casino gambling companies are claiming millions of pounds in damages due to losses from the illegal ISP online casino gambling blockade on behalf of the Italians. Ladbrokes, William Hill, Bet Fair and Coral Euro Bet are amongst the gambling companies believed to be part of this legal action. They were all part of the blacklisted gambling companies that the Italian bill affected.

The Remote Gambling Association will launch the legal action on behalf of the online casino gambling websites, in administrative court of Lazio, the department for Rome. The RGA claims that the Italian legislation breaches basic trading treaty rights and needs to be challenged and stopped. The Remote Gambling Association also claims that the Italian law makers were already in breach of European Commission rules because they did not notify the EC of its plans to submit this bill against the online casino sites. The RGA believes that if the draft bill had been presented to the EC before its submission, it would have been stopped in its tracks.
