New Legislation Welcomes Online Casinos to the United Kingdom

British gamblers can now enjoy secure gambling at local online casinos thanks to the United Kingdom’s decision to legalize and regulate the online gambling industry. The 2005 Gambling Act came into effect this year and deals with a range of issues related to both live casino gambling and gambling at online casinos. While legislation so far is only applicable to those online casinos based in the United Kingdom, industry analysts and social groups alike have praised the Gambling Act’s fairness when it comes to tackling controversial gambling issues.

The new legislation is responsible for the establishment of a new Gaming Commission which deals with the licensing of online casinos and the advertising of gambling related services. Casino fans can feel secure knowing that their online casinos comply to the Gaming Commission’s strict guidelines on fairness and reliability. Of particular interest to social groups is the way in which minors who frequent online casinos are protected under the Act.

The various advantages the Gambling Act brings are plentiful. International online casinos are expected to relocate to the United Kingdom, while British casinos that have been forced to do business outside the country will benefit from the growth legitimacy is expected to bring. Another perk offered to online casinos is the opportunity to list publicly on the London Stock Exchange. A number of poker companies have already done so successfully and have exceeded industry expectations.
