Online Casino Gambling Confuses Government

As online casino gambling continues to grow and develop, more and more gambling fans are becoming online casinos members. And although online gambling is illegal in the US, the majority of online casino players are American citizens. This year alone, Americans will lose more than $7.2 billion according to Sebastian Sinclair, a researcher who studies gambling trends for the New York consulting firm Christiansen Capital Advisers.

‘Efforts to legislate Internet gambling started 10 years ago when the National Association of State Attorneys General met in St. Louis and became concerned people in their states were sitting at home, logging on and were gambling over the Internet,’ Frank Frahrenkopf, President of the American Gaming Association, said. It is clear that online casino sites and online gambling continue to be major issues in both state and federal legislatures. It seems the online casino debate will continue for many months and maybe even years, to come.

Many feel that the government should be more active in finding ways to regulate the online casino industry instead of fighting a futile war against its existence. Online casino sites seem to be gaining strength, and more and more online casino players are signing up at these sites on a daily basis. What will become of state law and regulation of the online gambling industry is still unknown. However, this issue will remain on the agenda as the fight for and against online casinos continues.
