Charity Poker Tournament to Raise Money for Young Cancer Patients
This month a special poker tournament to raise money to help children suffering from pediatric cancer will be held at the Springetts Fire Company in Pennsylvania. The tournament, “Poker with Jimmy” is being run by the state’s THON group along with Jimmy Clark, a Penn State student and cancer survivor. It will raise money for the Four Diamonds Fund at the Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.
The tournament costs $30 in advance or $40 on the door and games will be taking place throughout the afternoon.
Jimmy Clark is a junior at the University Park campus, last year he studied at Penn State York where he was a member of the York THON committee and was selected to be a dancer at THON2013.
In 2008 Clark was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer, he was treated at Penn State Hershey Medical Center and underwent surgery to remove the tumor and save his leg. The tournament developed due to Clark’s desire to show appreciation for the help he received. It is the fourth year of the tournament and so far it has raised over $30,000 for the Four Diamonds Fund.
