Bookies Make Sophie Favourite to Win Great British Bake Off

While only one episode of the new series of the Great British Bake Off has aired, the series is already popular and the bookmakers are accepting odds on who will be this year’s winner.

Surprisingly bookies haven’t chosen Steven, who was named as Star Baker in the first episode, as the favourite to win. Rather, they think that Sophie is most likely to win and are offering odds as short as 2/5. Steven is someway behind at 3/1 but the gap is likely to narrow as the series progresses. A spokesman for William Hill said that Sophie looks “highly competent” and they expect her to be “very consistent”.

Flo is third favourite to win at 6/1 followed by Julia at 10/1, Liam, Tom and Yan are all at 12/1, Chris is at 14/1 and James, Kate and Stacey are at 16/1.
