British Punters Start Betting on the Next Election
While the British political establishment is still dealing with the fallout of last week’s General Election, the punters have already moved on to backing new markets.
Soon after the election results became known Jeremy Corbyn became the bookies’ favourite to become the next Prime Minister (after Theresa May) with odds as short as 11/10 at bookmakers such as William Hill. Furthermore, the odds on another General Election taking place this year are at 7/4 at Bet365 and William Hill.
According to the bookies it won’t be Theresa May fighting Corbyn in the next election, rather they have made Boris Johnson favourite to be the next Tory leader with odds of around 7/4 at most leading bookmakers. However, they seem fairly sure that Corbyn will enjoy victory as the odds on Johnson being the next Prime Minister are significantly longer at 5/2.
