William Hill Backs Scotland to Vote for Independence

William Hill has become the first bookmaker to back Yes as the most likely outcome of a second Scottish independence referendum.
The bookmaker is offering odds of 8/11 on the Scots to vote for a break from the UK before the end of 2024. The No vote is priced at evens while the chances of a referendum taking place within seven years is as short as 1/3. The odds are only slightly longer, at 10/11, on a referendum taking place before the end of 2020.
However, while the odds maybe good news for those that back Scottish independence, at other bookmakers the odds aren’t quite so promising while a number of polling experts have warned that the bookmakers may have got it wrong. For instance at Ladbrokes the odds on a Yes vote by 2020 are still at 3/1.
