Bookies Relieved After Honey G’s Fortunes Change
There is mixed news regarding the controversial Honey G on the X Factor. On one had she has overtaken bookies’ favourite Matt Terry in the show’s phone vote tally while on the other she has become the bookies’ favourite to be eliminated this week.
Bookmakers are offering odds in the region of 8/13 on Honey G being kicked off the show after this week’s episode, far shorter odds than her nearest rival Saara Aalto who is at 3/1. Furthermore, the odds on her winning the series are around 20/1 compared to the bookies’ favourite Matt Terry who is at 1/2.
However the 35 year old rapper, real name Anna Georgette Gilford, topped the viewers’ votes for the first time during last week’s show. This of course has caused concern with both the bookmakers and Simon Cowell whose record company will represent whoever wins the season.
Honey G ended up in the bottom two of last week’s show which brought the bookmakers some relief. A spokeswoman for Coral said, “When Honey G ended up in the bottom two, we were more than relieved and this week, we hope the odds are right and she goes. Before she ended up in the bottom two, we feared she might win and leave us facing our biggest pay-out in reality TV history as punters were supporting her at all prices. This week however, the support has eased for the first time since week one.”
All eyes will now be on the votes this week to see if she can scrape through another round or cause the bookmakers further embarrassment.
