Bookmakers Slash Odds on X Factor’s Honey G
Following the first live episode of this year’s X Factor last weekend the bookmakers have seriously slashed the odds on the Harrow based rapper Honey G winning the competition.
While many still see Honey G, who is one of Sharon Osbourne’s Overs, as a joke, the bookies have been flooded with bets on her to win the entire show. As a result the odds on Honey G have been cut from around 50/1 to around 12/1 at most major bookmakers.
This means she is now ahead of more serious acts such as Relley C, Ryan Lawrie, Saara Aalto and Freddy Parker. Furthermore, even Simon Cowell has admitted that he enjoyed Honey G’s performance last Saturday night as she escaped the bottom two over Saara Aalto.
Nicola McGeady, a spokeswoman for Coral, said that Honey G is this year’s “dark horse” and said that the rapper has been backed by punters up and down the United Kingdom.
However, despite the dramatic cut in Honey G’s odds the overwhelming favourite at the bookmakers is still Matt Terry who has odds of around 5/4 at the majority of bookmakers. He is followed by 5 After Midnight which have odds of 4/1 and Gifty Louise who has odds of 6/1. However, there has been just one live show so far and it could easily change.
In contrast to the support that Honey G has received, her mentor Sharon Osbourne is the favourite at 4/6 to be the first to lose all her acts. She is followed by Louis Walsh at 2/1, Simon Cowell and 6/1 and Nicole Scherzinger at 12/1.
