Bookies Suspend Betting on Next James Bond after Flurry of Bets
Coral has suspended betting on who will be the next James Bond after a huge amount was bet on the British actor Tom Hiddleston.
A series of bets over the weekend made Hiddleston the 2/1 favourite to replace Daniel Craig and then after a particularly large bet his odds fell further to 1/2 at which point Coral suspended the betting market.
In previous months Idris Elba and Damian Lewis had been frontrunners for the roles bur recently had odds of 9/1 and 14/1 respectively. Poldark actor Aidan Turner had odds of 3/1 and Tom Hardy was at 4/1. The large bets on Hiddleston came after he was spotted meeting with Bond director Sam Mendes and producer Barbara Broccoli last week. In the past Hiddleston has said that playing Bond would be an “extraordinary opportunity” and has described himself as a “huge fan” of the films.
