Leonardo DiCaprio is Biggest Favourite Ever to Win Oscar

According to bookmakers William Hill Leonardo DiCaprio has become the shortest priced favourite to win an Oscar ever. After many years of failing to win the highly coveted award, DiCaprio is clear favourite to win the statue for Best Actor.

Before this year Helen Mirren had the shortest ever odds to win the award in 2006 when she was 1/66 favourite after her performance in The Queen. However, DiCaprio has now overtaken this and the odds on him winning are at 1/100 and since October 2015 an impressive 97% of bets have been on him to win.

Behind Leonardo DiCaprio is Eddie Redmayne for his performance in the Danish Girl but the odds are considerably longer at 16/1 and at some bookmakers they are as long as 22/1. Third favourite is Michael Fassbender also with odds of 16/1 followed by Bryan Cranston at 50/1 and Matt Damon at 66/1.

The favourite to win the Best Actress award is Brie Larson at 1/20 for her performance in Room. She is followed by Saoirse Ronon at 8/1, Cate Blanchet at 25/1 and Charlotte Ramping at 50/1.
In addition to DiCaprio’s likely success in the Best Actor category it seems that the film he was nominated for, The Revenant, could take the Best Picture award as it is 4/9 favourite to win. Behind it are Spotlight at 5/2, The Big Short at 6/1 and Room at 66/1.

Favourite to win Best Director is the Revenant’s director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu at 1/9 followed by George Miller at 11/2 and Adam McKay at 16/1.
