Betting Heats Up on Golden Globes Awards 2016

The Golden Globes Awards are just a couple of days away and of course this means that the betting markets are heating up.

One of the most contested categories is Best Film – Drama and the clear favourite to win at the majority of bookmakers is Spotlight with odds of around 4/11. It is followed by The Revenant which is some way behind at 4/1 and Carol at 8/1. The other nominations are Mad Max: Fury Road at 18/1 and Room at 20/1.

Another closely followed category is Best Film – Musical/Comedy and The Martian is strong favourite to win with odds of 6/5. However, there is some competition as The Big Short is not far behind at 13/8 and it is followed by Joy at 9/2. Other options include Trainwreck at 16/1 and Spy at 28/1.

Leonardo DiCaprio is favourite in the Best Actor – Drama section with odds of 1/5 and he is followed someway behind by Michael Fassbender at 7/2. Other contestants include Eddie Redmayne at 12/1, Bryan Cranston at 25/1 and Will Smith at 33/1.

In the Best Actress – Drama competition Brie Larson is favourite at just 1/2 followed by Cate Blanchett at 3/1 and Saoirse Ronan at 7/1. Other options include Rooney Mara at 12/1 and Alicia Vikander at 18/1.

Ridley Scott is favourite to win the Best Director award with odds of 2/1 and he is followed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu at 9/4 and Tom McCarthy at 3/1.

There are still two days to go before the awards ceremony and these odds could very well change. Either way, it is sure to be a great night for punters that enjoy cinema.
