Poker Legend Danny Robison Passes Away
The poker community is mourning the loss of poker legend Danny Robison. No details have been released about his death, but his loss is keenly felt.
Robison, born 1945, was one of the best 7 card stud players of all time. He was also the best friend and poker partner of poker superstar Chip Reese, together they were known as “The Goldust Twins”. The two originally moved to Las Vegas in 1973 with just $800 between them, playing just $10/20 Seven-Card Stud they managed to run their bankroll to more than $2 million in two and a half years. They soon become two of the most respected and liked characters on the high stakes poker circuit.
Over the years Robison fought a cocaine addiction, but eventually recovered and became a born again Christian. Since the news of Robison’s death broke poker players have been sharing their memories of Robison over twitter.
Linda Johnson tweeted, “Danny Robinson was a good guy and a tough poker player. I loved to hear him tell poker stories…always entertaining. RIP Danny!”
Doyle Brunson also took to twitter writing, “Got word Danny Robinson just died. He was Chip Reese’s best friend and was instrumental in Poker development in Vegas.#myfriendtooRIP”
