Thai Government Blocks Access to Gambling Sites

The technology ministry in Thailand has blocked a number of gambling websites that it considers illegal under Thai law.

Authorities have blocked access to a number of sites that deal in piracy, pornography and gambling. Most of the newly blocked sites seem to be ones based in Thailand such as Thailand Torrent, BitDed, and 1000???.com.

There has been no official statement form Thailand’s ICT Ministry, however, an administrator at the site BitDed has confirmed that the site is being blocked by the government.
Authorities in Thailand block access to a large number of websites, those that feature pornography, gambling, depictions of violence and anything offensive to the Thai Royal family.

Generally the issue of web censorship in Thailand isn’t taken too seriously by users. The censorship is conducted by the Royal Thai Police, the Communications Authority of Thailand, and the MICT. However, as with all countries that block sites there are numerous ways to circumnavigate the blockades.

Nonetheless, many internet users have taken to a popular online forum, Pantip, to complain about the government, while there are others that support the ban.
