IGT Creates Multi-State Progressive Jackpot Network

IGT Creates Multi-State Progressive Jackpot Network

While IGT has just announced that it plans to cut its global workforce by 7%, there is also good news from the casino game developer. IGT is developing a progressive jackpot network which is designed to create massive jackpots from casinos in multiple jurisdictions.

The Powerbucks progressive will network casinos in multiple states, as New Jersey’s Gaming Enforcement Director, David L. Rebuck, said the system features “the first Powerball-type slot machines through interstate slot play.”

IGT is hoping to launch Powerbucks in Nevada, New Jersey, South Dakota and Canada by October. It is expected that with time more states will join. The network has the potential to create jackpots of up to $100 million if enough states and casinos participate.

The game is designed to attract penny players that enjoy progressive jackpots. The game will have a maximum bet of 300 credits which will make players eligible for the progressive jackpot; there will be a fixed jackpot available at other betting levels.

Powerbucks has been designed as an add-on to existing IGT machines such as American Idol Encore and Ghostbusters: Who You Gonna Call. The games will basically operate the same way as they do now but with the addition of a Powerbucks trigger from which players will gain access to the Powerbucks bonus games.
