Number of Female Social Casino Poker Players Is On the Rise

It seems that gambling is no longer recognized as an activity only for men. In recent data released by International Game Technology (IGT) and DoubleDown Casino, the participation of female poker players in social casinos has increased.
As a follow-up of the ongoing U.S. Social Casino Index project of the DoubleDown casino, this data was based on over six million players who have played the casino’s games on Facebook or a mobile device over the last month. This data focused on the player’s preferences in social casino.
IGT is a global leader in gaming systems technology whereas Double Down Casino is the largest social casino in the world.
According to John Clelland, who is the Vice President of Global Marketing at IGT Interactive Group, poker is no longer a male-dominated game as the number of women playing poker has increased significantly.
While DoubleDown Casino offers over 40 free social casino games online and on mobile, poker is definitely the most popular game. While men are definitely the majority of the players, the number of female players increased by 22% in 2013.
The data from this research also revealed that Hawaiian women spend almost 6.5 hours a month playing poker while both women and men spend the same amount of time playing free online poker each week.
Other data revealed that Utah women are risk takers who play over 8 million virtual chips per session while Wyoming women are more conservative, playing less than one million virtual chips per session.
