Pitbull and JLo to Record World Cup Anthem
Latin Grammy winning rapper Pitbull has revealed that his is collaborating with Jennifer Lopez on a song for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil. According to a tweet from Pitbul the song, “We Are One”, will also feature the popular Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte.
It is not yet known if this is the official World Cup anthem, but an announcement is expected from FIFA in the coming days. It is thought that the song will include English, Spanish and Portuguese lyrics, particularly as Pitbull is known for producing global hits.
Pitbull is currently enjoying success with his single “Timber” featuring Ke$ha. It is currently in its third week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He has previously collaborated with Lopez on three separate singles, most recently “Live it Up”, a single from JLo’s upcoming album and in 2011 their joint effort “On The Floor” spent three weeks in the top ten.
Another musical highlight of the World Cup will be the Sony’s Super Song contest. The contest allows people to submit a video of them singing a song of their own composition. The winning song will then be performed at the World Cup by Ricky Martin.
