$1.5 Million Poker Tournament at Australia’s Star Casino
Australia’s National Poker League has joined forces with the Asian Poker Tour to hold the largest prize pool tournament in the history of New South Wales. The APT Sydney 2013 tournament will be taking place at The Star from December 5 – 8 as part of the casino’s Summer Series. It is thought that the prize pool could reach as much as $1.5 million.The Melbourne based 2005 World Poker Champion, Joe Hachem, has said that this type of tournament “will produce Australia’s next big poker star. This event provides poker enthusiasts the opportunity to test their skills not only against the best players from around Australia, but also at an international level.”
The NPL runs over 500 weekly Texas Hold’em poker tournaments in licensed venues around Australia, it was the first Australian league to host a half-million dollar event outside of a casino. The APT is considered one of the leading organizers of poker events in Asia.
It is well known for events in Macau, Philippines, South Korea, Cambodia and India. The combination of the two is guaranteed to bring a world class poker tournament packed with fun and large payouts.
