Ben Mayhew Claims Victory at UKIPT Nottingham 6-max Main Event

The UK and Ireland Poker Tour Nottingham 6-max Main Event has come to close with Ben Mayhew emerging as winner from a final table packed with surprises.
After winning the event Mayhew said, “You get tournaments where you’re at the final table and you look at one guy and you think, God, he’s really bad, how did he get there? I think today that was me.”Mayhew began the day fourth in chips and exhausted after a tough third day of play. Immediately David Clifton-Burraway and Tony Salmon put the pressure on and took away half of Mayhew’s stack. With just 15 big blinds left Mayhew took a chance and called an all-in with his Ace-Four. The flop and the turn saved Mayhew and he survived to play another hand.
After a tough battle Mayhew walked away having won a total of £72,840 in cash and convinced that he had some extra help along the way, “I swear it’s my old man. He passed away in March so I think he’s certainly up there. Every time I needed a card it was there, bink! I survived five or six all-ins as an underdog and somehow I got there,” the winner said.
