Top Poker Players Head to the Isle of Man
A number of world-famous poker players are headed towards the Isle of Man and the Villa Marina for the UK and Ireland Poker Tour’s stop there this week.Amongst the players is Daniel Negreanu, one of the highest-earning tournament players of all time.
Negreanu began playing professionally at the age of 22 and in 1998, when he was just 23, he became the youngest ever player at the time to win a World Series bracelet.
Since then he has never looked back, this year he won the World Series of Poker player of the year as well as two World Series of Poker bracelets.
So far he has won over $18.5 million in tournaments.
Also taking part in the UKIPT’s stop is Liv Boeree, one of the most successful female players of all time. In 2010 she beat 1,240 players to win the PokerStars European Poker Tour in San Remo and collected €1,250,000. She came to the game having completed a degree in astrophysics at Manchester University.
The main event of this stop of the UKIPT is a £1,100 entry No Limit Hold’em poker tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of £500,000. Also taking place is a £2,300 High Roller Event.
