Britney Spears Heads to Vegas for 100 Shows
The pop star Britney Spears has signed a two-year residency deal to perform at Las Vegas’ Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino.
Spears will perform 50 shows a year starting on Dec. 27 and tickets for the shows go on sale this week. In a recent interview from Las Vegas on ABC’s Good Morning America Spears said, “I love it here. The energy here is really, really good.
I am definitely going to do the greatest hits but I am going to have to put my new material in to keep it fresh.”
The announcement of the deal confirms speculation that Spears was planning on following in the footsteps of other best-selling performers such as Celine Dion and Elton John who both had long term contracts in Vegas.
Terms of the deal have not been released, but in the past similar deals, such as Dion’s, were said to be worth around $100 million.
The owner of Planet Hollywood, Caesars Entertainment Corp, announced last February that it was holding talks with Spears about a headlining residency at its resort.
