Jason Mercier Loses Global Poker Index Top Spot

After weeks at number one, Mercier has been beaten down to third place by Rettenmair and Negreanu.

The leader of the Global Poker Index raking for several weeks, Jason Mercier, has finally been knocked off the top spot. The American professional players, has dropped to third place in the latest update with 3,149.04 points.

Mercier was beaten by German Marvin Rettenmair while Daniel Negreanu has climbed from seventh place to second since the last update. It is a massive leap which is testament to Negreanu’s fantastic skills. The other two places in the top five were taken by Philipp Gruissem and Joseph Cheong respectively who have exchanged places since the last update.

Ole Schemion has also made good progress; he has climbed to sixth place from tenth.

The biggest drop this week was Stephen O’Dwyer who was in the top three and has now fallen to seventh. Both Michael Watson and Igor Kurganov dropped a place to sixth and ninth respectively and Paul Volpe climbed one place to tenth position. French player Bertrand Grospellier has remained in thirteenth place while world champion Jonathan Duhamel has done extremely well and climbed to fifteenth place whereas before he was not even in the top twenty
