888 Poker has removed Heads Up Cash Games from its lobby in order to prevent abuse of the system.

Heads up cash game table have been a problem for online poker rooms for a long time, they are often populated by players referred to as “bumhunters”.

A bumhunter will sit at a table and wait for a weak opponent.

This leads to a scenario where many heads up cash game tables are available with one player sitting at each of them and regular players avoid playing each other in order to wait for a weak opponent.

Other poker networks have taken action to prevent heads up players from abusing the system, for instance the iPoker Network has a feature which enables operators to punish players that violate table rules, the Bodog Poker Network has made all tables anonymous and PokerStars has a program called King of the Hill which forces players sitting at cash game tables to accept action or bet kicked off.
